'Vampire Diaries' News or Spoilers Out of Paleyfest

During the 2012 Paleyfest, some news came out of the Saturday night events concerning The CW network's The Vampire Diaries.

First up, they had screened the upcoming Vampire Diaries episode, titled "1912," at the fest, which touches on the aftermath of the Meredith/Alaric confrontation.

"1912" can be seen when the show returns this upcoming Thursday, March 15th, 2012.

But other news from the event, for some reason, was the ratings...  the show is averaging around 3 million viewers and for The CW, is a good showing.  I'm not sure why it was pointed out as an issue.

Bits or (spoilers?) from upcoming episodes:

- We'll have more Damon and Rebekah angst;

- Esther's plot to kill her own kids comes up again;

- We probably won't be seeing Katherine for the rest of the season;

- Bonnie and Caroline will be teaming up a bit more;

- There might be a new death coming up... but I never trust showrunners when they dodge direct questions;

- Bonnie might be meeting someone new...or have someone new in her life;

And on whether the show will follow the book series, where Elena becomes a vampire... again, another elusive answer from a showrunner... saying "We'll see."
