At first it was sequels. Then it was remakes or reimaginations. Fans are tired of remakes, especially since many of them are poorly done. But now, studios have found another venue for movies that is better than a remake and helps maybe get money in the coffers for very little investment. Seeing as how the production investment is nil.
It's re-releases! Disney is leading the pack with redistribution into 3D some of its older, classic animated features. But now Paramount is eyeballing an IMAX re-release to herald in the new Blu-ray release of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
If enough people eat up the IMAX release, expect this pattern to happen more often than not!
