In what I think is an interesting idea, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is trying something out that I haven't seen before... they're partnering up with Home Theater Forum, a film discussion website, and letting the movie fans pick what classic movies they want to come to Blu-ray.
No, it's not a free-for-all kind of nominating process initially, but rather, Fox is calling it their “Voice Your Choice” Campaign.
In this campaign, they put out a list and let fans vote on what they'd like to see come to Blu-ray. The list will be some of Fox's more popular titles from the 1930 to 60's era, with stars such as Henry Fonda, Shirley Temple, Paul Newman, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, John Wayne and more.
And as the campaign moves along, fans will get an opportunity to submit some of your favorite classic titles.
In addition, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will be releasing a Blu-ray per month, under the program name of “20th Century Fox Studio Classics.”
“20th Century Fox Studio Classics” will include movies from the 1920's through the 1960's that were Academy® award-winning or nominated movies.
I think this program can be a great, market-focus program, releasing titles that the people say they would be interested in buying. It could be a win-win situation across the board.
