Right now, if you buy into the hype, Syfy's latest and greatest project, Defiance, is going to rock your world on many levels. And the preview clips I've seen so far, seem to support the sales pitch.
Defiance is a science fiction TV series that will be tied into a MMO video game and stars Grant Bowler as a local lawman of a refuge camp, called Defiance.
Other cast includes Julie Benz, & Jaime Murray (pictured above).
The story is about aliens called Votans who come to Earth after their planet/star system is destroyed. But they're kept in orbit for six years while humanity deliberates whether to let them land or not. Getting tired of waiting, the Votans attack and during the battle, terraform technology gets accidentally dropped on Earth and changes things forever.
The outline seems standard but this show has been in development for quite some time, with Rockne S. O'Bannon (Farscape, V, CW's Cult) helming the effort. O'Bannon's resume gives me hope this won't be a flop.
The show is slated to premiere on April 15th, 2013 on Syfy.
