Wow, it's been a while, but Tom Welling is finally getting back into the mold of actor! Since Smallville, he executive produced the moderately successful CW series, Hellcats, but since then, he's been quiet on the job front.
Deadline is reporting exclusively that that Tom Welling has landed a role in the movie Parkland. He's joining other cast members of Paul Giamatti, Zac Efron, Jacki Weaver, Jackie Earle Haley, Marcia Gay Harden, Colin Hanks and others. (Jeremy Strong will play Lee Harvey Oswald)
Parkland focuses on the hours that take place after the assassination of JFK, and his subsequent passing at Parkland Hospital. (Synopsis: A recounting of the chaotic events that occurred at Dallas' Parkland Hospital on the day U.S. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.) It's being directed by Peter Landesman. I'd like to be able to tell you about his resume that leads up to this gig, but this seems to be his directorial debut. He did write and exec produce the 2007 project, Trade.
Parkland is being produced by some heavy hitters in the industry, or at least fan favorites, like Tom Hanks, & Bill Paxton.

It's been a long time since we've seen Tom Welling in anything and it will be good to see him in something other than a fantasy or horror role to boot. Keep your eyes peeled.
At this time there's no news on his role, or an exact release date for Parkland,
This is great news. I can't wait to see Tom Welling again.
