Dear 'Godzilla 2014' Fans, Stop Being Angry With Legendary

Godzilla teaser still from Comic-Con attraction
The Legendary Comic-Con 2013 Godzilla panel has come and gone.  In that panel, like last year, there was more Comic-Con specific footage to tease those lucky enough to be able to weather the hours of waiting in the infamous Con lines.

The footage this year included Bryan Cranston, a visual of what might have been a large, four-legged Kaiju, but then rearing up behind it, a much larger, is Godzilla.  The footage sounds sweet and those in the Con were lucky to have seen it.

Those of us on the outside, who, for whatever reason, were not inside, only get to hear about it.

Last year that footage never left the inner sanctum of that panel.

This year, there was the new footage folks are talking about.

We should all be excited about this.  With production having wrapped up last week (from this post's date), it's on to post-production.

And yet, over on a few Godzilla fan groups, peopel are venting in anger that no movie trailer or the footage has been released by Legendary.  As some called it, "That's strike two Legendary."

And then there's the images of the model of what director Gareth Edwards calls Godzilla 2014.

And people are starting to bitch about that too.

Give me a *ing break people.  If you're all so upset about everything you've seen and heard or not seen, then think about this:  How's it been feeling for you when there was nothing in production?  When the legacy of Godzilla was just rusting away in our memories, while wanting more?

These complaining fans seem rather unappreciative of the idea that we're not just getting a direct-to-DVD crap film, but something of substance.

Sure, I get some things don't always gel with your hopes of what might be in a new movie of your favorite franchise.  But calling the new Godzilla too thin or not enough this or that, well, I'd say give it a chance.

Getting a new Godzilla film, from a guy like Gareth Edwards, off a script wrangled by the legendary Frank Darabont, and taken seriously enough by Warner Brothers and Legendary is a godsend to 'Zilla fan's hopes.  All known, proven and/or successful quantities

Enjoy, embrace and just wait.  Everything you want will happen soon enough.

Movie trailers and teasers don't come out usually until 3 to 6 months before a movie.  A studio has to gauge how much they want to spend on marketing and slapping something out almost a year ahead of a movie release seems even silly, to me.  For me, that's probably going to be in November/December time-frame that we will more than likely see something substantial.

In the meantime, WB/Legendary used Comic-Con, like any other business entity, and that's as a marketing tool to keep the word-of-mouth revved up.

Until that magic moment, we have to wait for whatever teaser and/or trailer comes out first, prior to the May 16th, 2014 release date for Godzilla.
