I'm watching the latest episode of Rizzoli and Isles on TNT, and it's so sad and distracting to be seeing actor Lee Thompson Young, in the role he's defined since the series pilot episode, character Detective Barry Frost.
It's hard not to see him on screen and find yourself looking for the sadness that must have been riling around inside his mind, confounding his need to live.
It is so sad to see such a waste of a life.
The show was announced as being renewed for a new season last week, so there was no glum immediate future on his horizon. (That we can see, from the outside, looking in.)
News reports said Lee was discovered after not showing up for work, to film the season finale of the show. The studio or some such representative went to check on him, and found him dead.
There are no official reports of cause or method of death at the time of this posting, though I thought I saw early reports that mentioned a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
He seemed to have everything going for him, and yet, now, I can't help but see depression in his eyes now.
I hope he's found peace, wherever he might be right now. After tonight's episode, there was a note and a few moments of silence while we watched two quick scenes of him from the show.
