The season finale of The Bachelorette, with Desiree, felt like a 2-episode finale that was uselessly hollow, yet pitched with fervent hopes that would never come to be.
All this, ABC knew, yet they continued the hard-core marketing of the most empty finale in Bachelorette history.

First up... if anyone knew about it, there's a website called Reality Steve. The guy has an inside track on the production of the ABC reality series and tends to spill the beans on this and other ABC "reality" love shows.
ABC has sued him a few times, but to no avail as Steve continues to spoil season after season of the shows.
There have been two seasons where Steve was wrong. Des's season was his latest error.
All throughout the season, if you peaked at RS's site, his intel was that Brooks and Des run off into the sunset together.
That's important info to know, because I think ABC found Steve's source and had them feeding him bunk info.

The season finale of The Bachelorette Des was broken up into a two-part ordeal as she had narrowed the 25-man field down to 3 contenders of this game show.
The first part ended with Brooks walking off from Desiree, all broken up, balling his eyes out and Des balling her eyes out.
She was totally broken-hearted because Brooks was the man for her.
In the second part of the season finale, this was the ALL FLUFF episode that ABC banked on and in my eyes, this is where ABC shows what they think of their viewers.
In the second part, we watched Desiree ball her eyes out some more, meet up bachelor #2, Drew, and blowing him off, leaving one man out of three for the series to end on.
At this point, ABC had nothing to really go on. Two out of the three game-show finalists gone, oh, what to do?
That's simple, per ABC.
They go on with the show in the formulaic process they've always done, showing Des going on her last date or two with the last remaining guy.
All the while, I believe ABC banked on the idea that many folks are aware of the Reality Steve website site and with every single ad break in the "live finale," we were presented with the idea or question, "Would Brooks return?"
Now Reality Steve fans were sitting pretty smug, because they "knew" he would. Steve said so.
Alas, the series ended with Chris "being there" for her, through thick and thin, (in other words, happy with being second fiddle), and she let him propose to her, and she accepted.
Awww.
Aw bull sh**!
ABC did not need that entire second episode that was riddled with questions about Brooks coming back. But ABC played their hand well and took advantage of the potential following of Steve, and played them like bad harmonicas.
"If you're expecting a long drawn out explanation regarding the wrong spoiler for this season, breaking down the who/what/when/where and why, I don't have it. All season the information I was given had me 100% convinced Desiree was engaged to Brooks. Even as I was live tweeting last night during the show, I was convinced of it."
"Bottom line is I was wrong. No crying, no whining, no trying to pretend it was something other than it wasn't. For the first time in the last seven shows this franchise has produced, I got the season ending spoiler wrong. Sucks, but what can I do? Move on, focus on Juan Pablo's season, and get it right next time."

Many didn't get her hang up on Brooks... unless it was a diversion all along in the season, set up by ABC. And maybe so. Who knows.
But that final episode did not sit well with many folks I've chatted with. Fans were yanked along (more than willingly actually) and teased with hollow treats. Me, I've never embraced Desiree. There was something about her that never gelled with my reality TV watching filter.
That's all I'm gonna say on this one... that fans were played and I don't believe her.
If this latest Bachelorette couple lasts through the end of the year, I'd be surprised. Happy for them... but surprised.
