Who Was Marvin Hamlisch (Behind the Candelabra)

In case you watched HBO's Behind the Candelabra, at the end of the movie is an "in memory of" splash screen, honoring Marvin Hamlisch.

Turns out that Mr. Hamlisch was the man behind the soundtrack of the HBO movie, as he was a composer and conductor.

More than likely, you may have heard his work in movies such as

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,

Land of the Lost ,

Bedtime Stories ,

Shrek the Third,

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,

Lost in Translation

ON TV he's contributed to episodes of:

The Simpsons,

Glee,

Fringe,

House M.D.,

So You Think You Can Dance...


Well, he's worked on almost 90 movies and contributed to almost 100 TV show titles during his Hollywood career spanning the years since 1965.

I can't even begin to touch on his Broadway contributions.

Mr. Hamlisch passed away in early August 2012, after battling a "brief illness."  And he left behind a wonderful legacy of music that will continue to entertain for years to come.
