Marvel finally unveiled a movie poster to the sequel to Captain America, titled Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
The movie stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Frank Grillo, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp (as Agent 13), Hayley Atwell, Maximiliano Hernández, Robert Redford, Anthony Mackie (as the Falcon!) and Georges St-Pierre.
It's almost like a mini Avengers sequel, since it picks up after the events of the movie, and Cap and Black Widow work together to bring down some bad guys in our Nation's capital. (And don't forget, the Falcon will be making an appearance in the film. Sweet!)
The movie is due out in theaters in April of 2014.
UPDATED: Later on the same day, Marvel released a few stills from the movie, in anticipation of the trailer coming out this Thursday, 10-24-13. Below is one of the stills, where the suit in this still looks pretty hot.
But I have to say... something is worrying me about the word-pitches coming out of the studio.
They talk about "not skimping on big, superhero sequences — Cap brawls in the tight confines of an elevator full of bad guys, for example, and a massive S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier takes a spectacular nosedive." Which seems to be a rather elementary statement.
And that there's "nobody better at that kind of stuff than Marvel if you're going to attempt to pull that off and go for it." Pull what off? A good movie?
Director Anthony Russo (1/2 of a the director duo) blabbered on to about the Winter Soldier (Bucky Barnes) as a an amazingly drawn and well conceived character in the comics.
It just seems to be bubbling over with sales pitch.
Bubbling sales pitches always worry me. A good movie doesn't need a lot of push. Questionable movies tend to get those pitches.
Don't get me wrong. I want this to be a good movie, and I'm sure (hoping) it will be. It has a bunch of new SHIELD characters and other personalities being introduced into the film franchise that Marvel is building. I can't wait to see The Falcon in action. That's for sure.
