Box Office Led By 'Gravity' Again

Gravity leads the box office numbers once again...

The box office (for the weekend of October 19th) is truly eating up the Sandra Bullock starrer, Gravity.  It netted another $31M, bringing it's domestic gross up to $170M.  (This is a good movie, whether you see it in 2 or 3D. Link leads to parent site,)

Captain Phillips, despite the bad or questionable press about the man, snagged an estimated $17.3M, while the newest opener at the box office, Carrie, netted just a wee bit less at $17M even.

After being out for four weeks, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 pulled in $10M.

There are so few family offerings these days it does not surprise me it's hanging on in the top-five box office performers.

Escape Plan premiered this weekend to an estimated $9.8M opening.

Rounding out the top-ten estimated movies, we have Prisoners ($2.1M), Enough Said ($1.8M), The Fifth Estate ($1.7M), Runner Runner ($1.6M) and Insidious 2 dragged another $1.5M to its $80M domestic gross.

What a huge disparity between fifth and sixth...  $9.8M down to $2.1M... that's a huge gap.

Nor am I unhappy to see Fifth Estate flounder hard.  I am not a fan of glorifying the man this movie is about.
