In the last episode of The Walking Dead, our new found friend, Patrick fell to some virus, dying and turning. He died at the community shower room. How considerate! More importantly, he turned, inside the prison, behind the walls.
We also saw that someone inside the prison is agitating the walkers outside the fence in that one spot. I'm guessing someone pro-governor leftover.
In the opening moments of "Infected," we watch someone walking into "that" community bathroom to clean up. She hears a noise but doesn't find anyone. But then we see walker-Patrick sit up and chug into the quarters hall. His first victim, he takes by the throat and he can't scream. Crumbs, there goes the neighborhood.
And he keeps chowing down, alongside his new-found made walker buddy. Eww, the new guy's guts spill out when he... gut up from the bed. HA! Yep.. that was a pun.
While Rick and Carl are gardening, the poop hits the fan as the walker breakout starts in D Block. Dang.
They put it together that Patrick turned without being bitten and came to the conclusion he contracted some virus, a new flu that's making its way around.
Now they need to separate the potentially exposed folks until they know they're not sick.
During all this, Carol deals with a father who dies. Lizzie and Myka's dad. She brings his two kids to him to say goodbye and he passes. One of the kids wants to be the one that stabs dad in the head, but can't quite do it. Carol takes over, and in one quiet, smooth move, she gently inserts a knife in through his ear. Smooth and "non-violent."
Wow. What an interesting demonstration of what this world has come to. In that there's more to killing a walker besides the very active, head smashing methods.
Then the poop really hits the fence. The walker mass gets too big for the perimeter fence and it starts to collapse. It's here, that they discover someone has been feeding the walkers.
Carol asks Carl to NOT tell his dad what he saw in the classroom, that's her teaching the kids how to kill walkers. She's worried Rick or the parents will put a stop to it.
(I think it's inevitable someone will find out, doesn't matter when.)
In saving the fence line, Rick and Daryl drive outside the fence and Rick starts leaving freshly killed pigs in a path away from the fence. (... Wait... Daryl's driving something other than his bike??? Oh, this is a world gone wrong!)
It was a rather sad scene if you're a friend of animals or a vegetarian. Pigs are actually rather smart and cute. But this is the world of the Walking Dead. There's really no room for cute. And the tactic worked, though it seemed to upset Rick to some degree.

WOW, Carl went and without provocation, gave up Carol's teaching the kids to use weapons. But to no surprise for this viewer, Rick says he won't say anything.
After all is said and done, Rick gives Carl his gun back and puts his own gun back on. He's no longer a farmer, but has brought himself back to what this world is really about... kill or be killed. That's his job. That's his calling.
And giving Carl his gun back is not only something inevitable in this world, but about time. You can't hover over the kid all the time in a world where something unforeseen can happen at any time. It's best to trust and have him safe, hoping he makes the right call when the time comes. Again.
At episode's close, Tyrese goes to say hi to his sick girlfriend, but discovers that she's been taken outside and burned. And from the previews, it seems it was done prematurely.
I'm guessing this could be the same pro-governor person who is inside. (Could it actually be the Governor?)
So now, keep your eye out for walkers with bloody eyes. They're the ones who have turned via flu death.
One other point was that Michonne finally broke down after having to hold a baby. There's something there, something from her past, that she lost, that she's been running from emotionally. It's about time we saw some more back story on our mysterious sword wielder!
And it seems we'll be seeing even more walkers per episode of The Walking Dead this season. (So far)
Judging from a preview I've seen, Daryl is driving yet again, and they run into a few thousand walkers!!! (That keeps my suspicions alive we're seeing more walkers per ep.)
