'The Walking Dead' Renewed by AMC

'The Walking Dead' Renewed by AMC

I know this may come as a shock to some of you, but AMC announced that The Walking Dead has been renewed for a fifth season.  And it's also important to know that showrunner Scott M. Gimple will be returning in the same capacity.  (Unless AMC changes their mind yet again)

They did not mention the episode count, but more than likely, it will be sixteen episodes, split into their two eight-episode runs, like this present season.  And I presume The Talking Dead returns with it, considering it expanded to an hour and seems to do well after the show.

As it stands, AMC needs this show.  They've lost Breaking Bad and Mad Men is finishing its run in 2015.

On the near horizon, they have the Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul, and a spinoff from The Walking Dead coming (They call it a companion series.  That's cable-speak for spinoff I guess), and a drama called Line of Sight with David Morrissey.  (Is that a spoiler?  That Morrissey will be on a new show?  Does this spell doom for The Governor?)

We still haven't heard if they're renewing Hell on Wheels and word on the street that the boredom called Low Winter Sun is not coming back.  To be honest, I'm not surprised.  Something was lacking there and I never got sucked into liking or caring about any of the writer-driven characters.

Be it as it may, that's what's up for now from AMC, The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul and more.
