Well, unsubstantiated rumors out there suggested that today we would see the first movie trailer for the Gareth Edwards Godzilla 2014 movie that is due out in May of 2014.
Unfortunately the educated guess by godzilla-movies.com, saying it would come out today, the anniversary of when the first movie came out, on Nov 3rd, 1954, well, was, VERY WRONG.
And some folks are getting pretty disappointed by these kinds of guesses being put out there by folks. The site referenced, was flying with something we all saw somewhere else.
Today, under the same site's community board, we now have another rumor, based off of a Tweet by Oleg Gaiko (movie_maniac), that the trailer for Godzilla will be attached to The Hobbit movie coming out on December 13th. He claims to have been in contact with WB and in reply to an inquiry "online via the internet," WB said "Not till The Hobbit comes out."
This is the second rumor with no news source backing it up.
Back in my Oct 19th post, I suggested that the time frame, six months prior to the movies' release date, is good timing. And further suggested that maybe they'd attach the trailer to Thor: The Dark World. The Hobbit makes more sense, but the genres both films serve of fantasy movie fans.
Personally, it's a huge disservice to Godzilla movie fans for these sites to be baiting anxious movie-goers about the trailer. And since it had leaked online a few weeks ago, that too may have messed up plans for the release. Could. Don't know for sure. It's a crazy world of movie marketing we're dealing with.
We'll see.
