Killed off the family dog, Brian.
Now maybe MacFarlane was going for shock and that Brian will somehow show up again, via his time machine. But to be honest, what a horribly sad scene.
I don't even watch the show and I was impacted by the memory video included below.

Sure... it's a cartoon. But the theme of the event in the story can hit home in so many ways, especially with those who own dogs and cats and lose them to various means, whether it be sickness or accidents. And it's never an easy experience. Ever. The dog becomes that treasured friend and family member the pulls you in and connects with you on levels you never get with humans.
Any how... that's that.
Everyone's favorite Family Guy character was killed off last night.
All hopes and presumptions are that it's not permanent and there will be a quick fix. Either that, or Fox/MacFarlane had best strap in for some serious backlash.
I'm thinking we'll hear a press release about this event as more and more emotional reactions start to set in, via the social world of the web.

I am sorry for everyone's loss last night. Me, I'm remembering the passing of my dog just a touch over a year ago.
