Tom Cruise Leads New Movies This Week

New movies in theaters opening on Friday, June 6th, 2014, include a Ground Hog day kind of movie with Tom Cruise as a soldier.  The other film has Shailene Woodley stepping out from under her Divergent shadow to make a pretty serious film.

Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

Rated PG-13, 113 min

An officer finds himself caught in a time loop in a war with an alien race. His skills increase as he faces the same brutal combat scenarios, and his union with a Special Forces warrior gets him closer and closer to defeating the enemy.

CS: When I first heard the outline of this movie, it didn't seem that appealing.  But as trailers have come out explaining the details a bit more, I am interested in catching this flick.

The Fault in Our Stars (2014)

Rated PG-13, 125 min

Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel's other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group.
