Opening This Week - July 25
Hercules
Rated: PG-13 98 min
Having endured his legendary twelve labors, Hercules, the Greek demigod, has his life as a sword-for-hire tested when the King of Thrace and his daughter seek his aid in defeating a tyrannical warlord.
Stars: Dwayne Johnson, John Hurt, Ian McShane, Joseph Fiennes
My thoughts: At first I was all about Johnson playing the legendary strong man, but then I caught some previews that were hack full of 3D gimmick scenes of things coming at the viewer. For some reason, I thought that crap went away a long time ago.
Because of that, I've put this on the back burner until it becomes a rental, a pay channel focus or it lands on FX of TNT or some such channel that doubles the length of the movie with loud commercials.

Lucy
Rated: R 90 min
A woman, accidentally caught in a dark deal, turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.
Director: Luc Besson
Stars: Scarlett Johansson, Morgan Freeman, Min-sik Choi, Amr Waked
My thoughts: Director Luc Besson has had some great popcorn hits under his belt, like the Taken and Transporter film franchises. He is also credited with creating the CW TV series, Nikita. So there's that.
Scarlett Johansson... well, if you think about it, I'm guessing there will be a strong male demographic heading out to see this film. She rocks it as The Black Widow in the MCU so why wouldn't she here?
If I weren't going to Comic-Con, this would be the flick I'd be seeing in theaters this week.

The Fluffy Movie
Rated: PG-13 101 min
A comedy concert film that captures the on-stage performance and inspirational success story of Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias.
Stars: Gabriel Iglesias, Jacqueline Obradors, Gina Brillon, Alfred Robles
Thoughts: It's a comedy concert... I'm not sure what to think.
