I’ve been catching up on my Spartacus: Vengeance
episodes and following the path that Spartacus has been taking with his
band of rebel/freed gladiators and other folk. It’s vexing to see how
things are going, and yet, fully entertaining at the same time.
But if you had not noticed, Crixus’ girl, Naevia is looking quite a bit different. And there’s a reason for that.
The actress that used to play Naevia, Lesley-Ann Brandt , in season 1 (Spartacus Blood and Sand) and the studio could not negotiate an acceptable contractual renewal and she moved on.
So Starz had to find themselves a replacement actress to fill the role in season 2 (Spartacus Vengeance) and they did in the form of Cynthia Addai-Robinson.
This is a great breakout role for Cynthia but I have to say, when you
swap out cast, I wish they’d found someone who looks more closely like
the first actress… because it’s really distracting. She’s much thinner
and her hair looks different enough. Just distracting.
So if you were wondering if you were losing it, you’re not. Starz lost Lesley-Ann Brandt.

Well Of course her hair is different, Naevia had her hair cut.
ReplyDeleteCompare how she looks at the end of 1x12 after Lucretia chopped off her hair, not her dolled up with long hair.
