The news on the street is that Netflix has ordered up a second
season of Marvel's dark and gritty Daredevil franchise. Which is
awesome, but the news that worries me is that the present showrunner,
Steven DeKnight, won't be there to helm the show.
Though
if you read the press release, it assures us all will be well under the
guidance of Doug Petrie (American Horror Story), Marco Ramirez (Sons of
Anarchy) will be co-showrunners.
DeKnight is a master a good, dark story telling. He is more than
likely most of the reason the show is as good as it is. He's been the
power source behind shows like Buffy, Angel, Smallville, Dollhouse, and
the surprisingly good Spartacus series on STARZ.
Maybe he became too expensive.
Marvel does have a pocketbook problem as their senior actors are reaping
the rewards from their great work and earning their millions.
