Well, if you thought the first Prometheus film was challenging, annoying, stupid or what not, don't worry, you'll have a second film to scoff at. If you liked the film, then you should be happy to know more is coming. (Though I am confused about this bit of press, considering Neill Blomkamp is developing an Alien remake with Fox too.)
Word on the street is that Ridley Scott is plotting to start filming the sequel (or prequel sequel) in January of 2016.
Prometheus 2 so far has Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace slotted to reprise their roles of the android with alternative plans, and one of the stupidest f*ing scientists you have ever seen on the planet... or well, now out in space.
Prometheus starred Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Charlize Theron.
Rapace got everyone else killed off so she could star in the sequel... OK, that was just a funny, but it is being reported by some that this film did make the most money of any of the Alien movies out there. Then again, looking at tickets sold vs money made, it is not so black and white.
Just looking at the (average price of movie tickets) from the year each movie was released, versus the domestic box office, and doing the math:
Prometheus: 2012 ($7.96): $126,477,084
Aliens 1986 ($3.71): $85,160,248
Alien 1979 ($2.51): $78,944,891,
(boxofficemojo adjusted gross)
It would seem the original DESTROYED Prometheus.
Alien - 31.5M tickets sold
Aliens - 22.9M tickets sold
Prometheus - 15.9M tickets sold.

Prometheus Micro-Review
I'm not knocking the system, but just pointing out that sometimes statements folks make can be a bit misleading and often is an over-inflation of how well it actually did.
Before I go much farther, I have to say I did enjoy the film for what it was. Prequel / reboot / what have you. IMDb user ratings give it a 7/10.
My only gripes, as I continued to dwell on the film, was how Rapace's science character was acting. How she continued to have "faith," while ignoring the scientific particulars. Trying to save her infected boy-toy. Throwing herself out of the ship to save a collected specimen, in some kind of nutty storm. Or that even after it has been discovered that this super-race wants to eradicate the humans, she wants to go to their planet when all is said and done.
So there's that, but it is still an engaging time-killer. And that's that.
