First off, the previews accompanying the film were exciting, large versions of the next Captain America film, and the latest trailer for Batman vs Superman. Oorah!
When the theater darkened and the very first screen from the film came up, the audience cheered and applauded, saying, let the fun begin. And the fun did indeed begin.
I have to hand it to J.J. Abrams. Too many people try to make a film their own kind of vision when they take over sequels and in translation, something gets lost between the original(s) and the sequel. Abrams knew exactly what he had to do to keep the franchise alive with the same kind of tone and energy that the originals did, and he did a superb job making you feel like these films were made right after the first (original) three films.
The film has humor that is a touch over subtle, the action is typical of our favorite Star Wars films and the characters become favorites right away.
You will start loving this film the very second it starts, and it goes from there.
Well worth any and every penny you spend on it... not to mention the film destroyed opening night records with nearly a $60 million night. ONE NIGHT!
Go enjoy!
