ABC announced that ABC television has ordered a pilot for Marvel's Most Wanted, a spinoff involving Agents of SHIELD character, Mockingbird, played by Adrianne Palicki and her husband, Lance Hunter (Nick Blood).
The real world is calling it a spinoff, but entertainment "insiders" are saying it is not a spinoff, but a new project based off of two characters from SHIELD, continuing their story under another title.
Um, AMC just said that a spinoff involves characters moving from one show to another... just saying, because I like stirring up shit.
Any how, I can't wait to see how this comes together. I like these two characters in the SHIELD series, I um, love watching Mockingbird, but will they be able to pull their own weight in their own story?
This (not a) spinoff had come up previously, but ABC did not move on it. They dropped the plan. But I have to wonder why just the pilot and not a mini-series?
Any way, the producers of SHIELD are helming this pilot.
The Variety piece that reported this also reminded us of one more thing... that there is still some super secret Marvel project still in the works, being helmed by John Ridley, who created American Crime.
I can't help but wonder, with Ridley helming a show, if it will be another dark Marvel production. Another? Yes... the Netflix series, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and the like are quite gritty and dark, but some of the content is not something you would see on a basic network without some scrubbing to make acceptable.
We'll see what comes of it while Marvel keeps riding the wave of acceptance on TV.

Since we are talking Marvel, let's talk about an upcoming movie of theirs... Avengers: Infinity War.
It's hard to explain, but pretty much, Thanos (Josh Brolin) finally shows up to do his own bidding since he can't seem to get anyone else he hires to get the job done for him.
But the story is big. Real big. They are claiming it is so big that it will take two movies to tell the entire story, as in Part 1 and Part 2. (Me, I'm thinking it is just a money grab, since that crap worked for Hunger Games and a few other franchises.)
But according to multiple sources, the Infinity War story will be involving more than 60 primary hero characters. Meaning, take notes, we may be seeing EVERYONE we've seen in a Marvel project, in the film.
And here we thought there were going to be a lot of Marvel characters in Captain America: Civil War!
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 opens on May 4, 2018, Part 2 will open on May 3, 2019.
