SUICIDE SQUAD Is Getting Trashed By Critics

Movie reviews for SUICIDE SQUAD seem blah.

Despite all the hoopla and carefully planned out marketing plots by DC and WB, it would seem that critics are coming away from the "Suicide Squad" movie with a lot of bland confusion. I've always said that professional critics tend to cater to their own, but when they all get on the same bandwagon, it's pretty impressive and worth noting.

These are the early reviews. One guy I trust gave it a B-, while I'm still waiting for the other critics I trust to chime in.

-

IO9 says

"Suicide Squad Is Chaotic, Manic, and a Total Mess"  "Suicide Squad is a strange blend of different tones, stories, and pacing all mashed into something that has cool individual elements, but never really comes together."

-

Screen Crush calls it

DC's Darkest Night. "If you liked the scene in Batman v Superman where Bruce Wayne watched YouTube videos about the future members of the Justice League, you'll love Suicide Squad."

-

Indie Wire says

"These Heroes May Be Bad, But Their Movie Is Even Worse"

-

The Chicago Tribune says

"Will Smith, Margot Robbie stand out in mega-stuffed superhero mess" "we have this thing, this garish, overstaffed, overstuffed, blithely sadistic corporate directive disguised as a PG-13 summer movie for all ages. (You'd be pretty stupid to let anyone under 13 see it. Actually you'd be pretty stupid to let anyone over 13 see it too.)"

-

EW gave it a B- and avoids are harsh criticism. "kicks off with a fizzy, punk-rock ferocity before turning flat and spiraling into familiar formulas."

-

And the one thing I find interesting is that for all the hype about the Joker being in the movie, it seems he is merely, what I can tell, a quick sideshow.

EW says "With his toxic-green hair, shiny metal teeth, and demented rictus grin, he’s the most dangerous live wire in the film. But he’s stranded in the periphery."

Even critics I trust are fairly nuetral about it.

On the other hand, IMDb has it sitting at 9.2/10. But remember, as far as I'm concerned, the first few thousand votes are probably studio shills, staff and employees, so I never trust early numbers from this site.

Admittedly, when critics destroyed Batman V Superman, it was disappointing because I liked the film. But I understood where they were coming from. You really needed to understand where the source material was coming from.

I had been plotting to see "Suicide Squad," but now, with it sitting at 34% (And dropping) on Rotten Tomatoes, well, I'm saving my money and will nurse some kind of over-priced coffee instead, while watching all the fun trailers.

And here I figured DC and WB would pull it all out for this film, considering how hard they were trashed on BvS. Well, keep swinging guys, you're sure to hit it out of some park some time soon.

Here's a fun trailer to watch... they really are fun.

See? They do look pretty fun.

Well, there's always Batman v Superman on Amazon. Right?
