After Prometheus came and went, fans and critics felt pretty annoyed by the whole thing, from the questionable marketing about if this was a prequel or not, to what I can only perceive as some of the f*ing stupidest scientists on the planet... no, correction, in the universe. THE UNIVERSE. She annoyed the living crap out of me, so kudos to the actor, Noomi Rapace, though to be honest, that character scarred me about the actress too. And officially, Ridley Scott has called Prometheus, this and the next film prequels to the original Alien film.
Be it as it may, we've been seeing teasers for Alien Covenant and now some "viral" videos for the movie as 20th Century Fox is scrambling to make the most out of their marketing time.
But if you step back and take a look, it is all starting to feel like Alien, & Aliens, where the colony ship Covenant finds a pristine new planet, with mysteries and dangers afoot. (What ever you do, DO NOT go to wikipedia to look up this film. I believe it gives away some plot details I have not seen in any of the marketing to date, and could be a potentially huge jaw-dropper for film-goers. That is, unless you don't care about spoilers.)
But aside from the trailer, we're now getting these viral videos to help pump up the film! They're interesting, but confusing. They're video logs to family from space, but obviously some "technical glitch," in a society that can propel humans far into space, has corrupted the videos.
To be honest, they should have just left out the glitch and given us the scary shit up front!
OH, aside from your first warning, that this is a Ridley Scott film, your second warning might be that the screenplay was written by Jack Paglen (Transcendence) and Michael Green (Green Lantern). Yea, the poor sap who gets stuck with the credit of having Green Lantern in his resume. Poor fool!
Trailers (This starts with the trailer, but continues into a playlist of videos and marketing...)
I have to admit, this is a great little teaser...
