The first teaser trailer for Shane Black's The Predator came out recently and to be honest, it seemed like more of a deterrent than a tease. Black's resume includes some great writing credits, like Lethal Weapon and directed Iron Man 3, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and he's slated to direct the upcoming Doc Savage film.

First... IT IS NOT A REBOOT. They're calling it the fourth film in the franchise, so they are dropping the AvP films from the franchise story line. It is set in between 1990’s Predator 2 and 2010’s Predators.
They have also been modifying themselves with DNA from other species, so they are even stronger and deadlier than before. As if they weren't bad enough before. And Earth is not a glowing example of superior DNA!
Now.. What the f* is it with the preview moments at the beginning of a trailer? Seriously?
We watch a child get a box in the mail and in it, something that controls or calls down a Predator space ship from Earth orbit. So why would someone send a box with alien gear to a kid? Or was it send to his father and he just opened it when he wasn't supposed to?
And then we get the standard jumble of action sequences to show us the mayham that's about to ensue in the film.
The trailer isn't totally convincing but we have only 90 seconds of teaser content. But when I look at the "expert" comments below the trailer, I see how the film will fail horribly. From the experts who only watched 90 seconds of mixed scenes...
"I hope this is fake. Olivia Munn?"
"Why would they want to make hybrids with a clearly inferior race like us? That makes no sense at all. I wonder if Hollywood people all failed at science and technology and create this bullshit plots?"
"Trash, I'm only rewatching original Predator."
"I’m only watching Kevin Hall as predator the only one I respect."
"This looks a bad turn for the franchise"
""from the director of iron man 3" thank you for that now I know I should keep my expectations very low, and hope for the best"
I am always amazed at how much can be gleaned from a few seconds of previews!
This was the best comment though:
"This trailer lacks a sexual Tyrannosaurus."

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black's explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe's most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
