If you remember the first season, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) was very esoteric in his view on life. The first season also didn't really fare well in fan or critic opinions. It didn't suck, but there was something missing. But in the second season of Luke Cage, Danny made a guest appearance and they made a point of mentioning that Danny seems different. I think they ramped up Danny's character and gave us a bit of a head's up in Luke Cage.
