At the end of the series finale of CBS's CSI, there was an 'in memory' spot saying "in loving memory of Roberta Custer."
Roberta Custer was many things throughout her career, starting her acting career in the 1960's with what was known as the Godzilla Rainbow Troupe. She helped found the Kingston Mines Theater, and was reported to be instrumental in the creation of the Remains Theatre. It was then that she met William Petersen.
Roberta later became Petersen's personal assistant and had been such for the last few decades.
As his assistant she helped him organize his schedules and read scripts to help provide guidance and counsel, and as Petersen put it, "mostly friendship."
According to sources she had passed away while house sitting William's house.
UPDATE: A few folks have left comments about there being no images of Roberta. Show executive Anthony Zuiker tweeted the following:
In loving memory of our great friend Roberta Custer. She will always be the one who brought the CSI family together. pic.twitter.com/Qe4MBurg36

It's very sad when a person dies. Why are there no pictures of this 'actress' on the websites which call her by name? Roberta Custer. There's a newer photo taken (?), of her, for a memorial service, posted in a tweet from the Zuiker twitter account on Jorja Fox's web page. And in the 1 Chicago paper online, there's the Bleacher Bum's pic from yonks ago. Why nothing recent? It's as if someone's erasing her out of existence. WTH?!
ReplyDeleteWebsites can't just grab an image to use when they feel like it. It has to be offered up as an open for available source for use. And yes, I saw the various images you mention. So no, no one is trying to erase anyone, it's just the funky world of the web.
ReplyDeleteI'm struggling to find a photo also. I too have just watched the finale and read the tribute at the end, wondered who she was and tried to find a piccie. I still am none the wiser who this lady was and that is a real shame.
